Chennai: The IMD has warned of squally weather off the South Tamil Nadu coast and other regions in the coming days, advising fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea, the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority (TNSDMA) said on Monday.

As per an early morning update from the regional weather office, squally conditions with wind speeds of 35-45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, are expected along the South Tamil Nadu coast, Comorin area, and Gulf of Mannar on Monday. TNSDMA shared this update on its official 'X' page.


The IMD also forecast similar conditions until Thursday, with squally weather anticipated along the North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coasts on December 19.

"Fishermen are advised not to venture into these sea areas during the specified period," the advisory stated.
