Chennai: Mystery shrouds the deaths of the fake NCC trainer, Sivaramakrishnan, arrested in connection with a sexual assault case by the police of the Bargur station in Krishnagiri district, due to alleged consumption of rat poison, and also that of his father in a road accident on Friday as contradictory reports were coming out on the tragedy.

The arrest of the 30-year-old Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) functionary Sivaraman, who conducted the fake NCC camp at a private school in Kandikuppam from August 5 to 8 along with some associates, on August 18 had send shock waves all through the country as his victims were adolescent school children and girl who charged him with sexual assault was just 13 years old.

On Friday, reports came out that Sivaramakrishnan, who was being treated in a hospital in Salem had passed away as he had consumed rat poison earlier with some claiming that it was before his arrest and others that it was after his arrest.

BJP State president K Annamalai wondered how the man did not develop any symptoms of poisoning for the past five if he had consumed it when he was on the run from the police before August 18. He said that Sivaramakrishnan had tried to end his life by consuming rat poison way back in July for some other reason but was saved through treatment at a hospital in Krishnagiri.

Annamalai posted on his X page a copy of the discharge summary. , which gave the diagnosis as ‘Ratol paste poisoning Plasmapheresis – AMA,’ and mentioned the date of discharge as July 17.

Now, some people were trying to attribute his death to that episode of rat poison consumption, which had only raised doubts about him trying to save somebody else from the sexual assault case, the BJP leader said.

The suspicion also gained significance since Sivaramakrishnan’s father Ashok Kumar also died on Thursday night after suffering a fall from his motorcycle. Both the father and son could also have been bumped off since they could name the real culprits behind the crime, some people said.

The Special Investigation Team with Inspector General of Police K Bhavaneeswari at the helm, instituted by the Chief Minister a few days ago, should probe the entire case, the BJP leader said.
