Tamil Nadu: State registration department creates a record

Chennai: The State Registration department earned a revenue of Rs 14,525 crore for the year 2024-25, till December 11, which was Rs 1,891 crore more than the revenue of Rs 12,634 made during the corresponding period in the previous year.

Making the announcement, State Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration, P Moorthy, praised the officials of the department for the achievement and urged them to ensure that the State earned good revenue in the rest of the year, too.

Meanwhile, the department also made an announcement that on the last Friday of the auspicious Tamil month of Karthigai, arrangements had been made for the registration of more documents, bowing the public demand.

So, on December 13, sub-registrar offices having a single sub-registrar would issue 150 tokens, 50 more than the normal days, and in offices having two sub-registrars 200 tokens would be issued, 100 more than the regular days, the official announcement said.

At the sub-registrar offices where 12 tatkal tokens are issued every day, four more tatkal tokens will be given to help people have properties registered on the auspicious day.

In November, the department, which is the leading revenue earner for the State government, created a record by making a monthly income of Rs 19,84.02 crore. It also created another record in single day collection of Rs 238.15 crore on December 5, the most auspicious day in the Tamil month of Karthigai.
