TN CM MK Stalin meets California tech giant honchos

Chennai: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the presence of Chief Minister M K Stalin by global technology giant Google at its Mountain View campus in California for setting up Artificial Intelligence (AI) laboratories in Tamil Nadu on the day Stalin also met head honchos of the other technology companies like Apple and Microsoft to invite them to Tamil Nadu for setting up new businesses..

‘An awe-inspiring visit to the offices of Apple, Google and Microsoft. Discussed various opportunities and exciting partnerships. Determined to strengthen these partnerships and make Tamil Nadu one of the foremost growth engines of Asia,’ Stalin said through a post in X after the meeting on August 29.

The MoU would enable the imparting of training on AI to 20 lakh students in association with Google as part of the skill development programme under the ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ (I’m Leader) scheme of the DMK government that aims at the youth of the State a future-ready workforce.

Besides holding discussions with the officials of Google and inviting them to make more investments in the State, Stalin visited the headquarters of Apple at Cupertino in California to explain to the officials why they should invest in Tamil Nadu.

Apple, a Fortune 500 company, makes smartphones, personal computers, tabs and a wide range of wearable devices like smart watches, head phones and airpods and its officials evinced interest in starting new ventures in the State

When the Chief Minister visited the Microsoft headquarters for discussions with its top executives, the delegation led by him was given a rousing welcome with the playing of a Tamil song. Stalin met LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky and held discussions data centre expansion and creation of Global Capability Centres and AI Skill development.
