Telangana: CBI Court Told to Speed Up Jagan Trial
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday expressed displeasure over the slow pace trial in the criminal cases against for Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and others in the cases filed by the CBI and the ED related to Jagan Mohan Reddy`s disproportionate assets case.
The special division bench comprising of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice T. Vinod Kumar were dealing with a public interest litigation case filed by Chegondi Venkata Harirama Jogaiah, , seeking directions to CBI court to conclude the trial of criminal cases pending against the former CM, before CBI court on day-to-day basis and to conclude the same before 2024 general elections.
It may be recalled that on the earlier occasion the High court has directed the CBI court to conclude all the cases against Jagan expeditiously, mostly by 30 April 2024..
On Wednesday, the bench expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of progress despite its earlier orders.
The High Court directed the Special Court for CBI cases to take up the cases pending against Jagan Mohan Reddy on day-to-day basis and shall submit a report with regard to the progress made in the case on or before the next date of hearing on July 23.07.2024
