11 Maoists Killed in Three Encounters in Past Eight Months
Police briefed uptight security arrangements in agency area
Warangal: In the last eight months, three encounters took place between the members of the Maoists and police officials, killing 11 members of the outlawed organisation.
In an encounter that occurred on Sunday morning at the Chalpaka forest region at Poola Komma of Eturnagaram Mandal, seven Maoists from the Yellandu-Narsampet Area Committee Dhalam were gunned down. Of the seven members who were killed, five Maoists were below 25 years of age.
Those dead included 35-year-old Kursam Mangu alias Bhadru alias Papanna, secretary and Telangana state committee member, and Eturnagaram-Mahadevpur area commander identified as 45-year-old Agolapu Mallaiah alias Madhu. While Mangu was a resident of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh, Mallaiah was a resident of Ramagiri mandal in the Peddapalli district in Telangana.
Three Maoists were killed in an encounter that occurred in April near the Karregutta area along the border of Telangana and Chhattisgarh on the outskirts of the Venkatapuram mandal.
The three dead included Anne Santosh alias Sagar (43), who worked as the deputy central commander of CRC-2. He was a resident of Kataram mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district.
While in the encounter that took place in the Mulugu district, the top Maoist leader, Macherla Esobu alias Jagan alias Dada Ranadev, who worked as the Central Military Incharge of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states, was killed. He was a resident of Tekula Gudem village in Kazipet of Hanamkonda district.
In January 2022, three members of the Maoists were killed in an encounter that took place at Karrigutta forest region of Venkatapuram mandal in Mulugu district. Of the three, the noted Maoist was identified as Mdikam Singey alias Shanta alias Anitha who worked as the secretary of the Wazedu and Venkatapuram area committee.
The police officials intensified the search operations across the district and in the forest region at the borders of the Telangana and Chhattisgarh states after learning that some six to eight members of the Maoists escaped from the spot when the encounter took place at the Chalpaka forest region.
When the police were taking all suspected persons into their custody and carrying out an investigation, the Maoists by releasing statements were gearing up to conduct the People’s Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) week-long celebrations in the agency areas of the neighbouring districts.
