16-Year-Old Student Found Dead at Chaitanya Degree College Hostel

Hyderabad: A 16-year-old student died in the premises of Chaitanya Degree College on Friday night, Nacharam police said on Saturday. Miyapur sub-inspector Narsimha said the teen was a student of MPC Intermediate I.

The student’s mother accused the college of misinforming her about the case.

Police said the teen had stepped out of his hostel room with his friend to meet another group of friends at their room. He was later seen in CCTV camera footage returning to his room alone. When his friend returned after some time, he found the teen dead. Hostellers immediately informed college authorities who called informed the police. 

The mother of the deceased, in a complaint, said that her son was very active. She said: “I got a call around 6.30 am from the principal of the college asking me to go to a (private hospital). When I reached there, I found no one and called the principal, who then told me to go to Gandhi Hospital. When I went to GandhiHospital, I found my son dead with literally no one (from the college) around. When I called them and asked why they ahd left my son all alone, they had no answer.”

The police shifted the body for a postmortem examination and registered a case. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
