200 motorists detained for driving in inebriated condition in Cyberabad
Hyderabad: An extensive weekend drunk driving check was conducted by the Cyberabad police on Saturday leading to the detention of 200 persons.
During the operation, as many as 153 two-wheelers, 11 three-wheelers, 31 four-wheelers, and five heavy vehicle drivers were caught for driving under the influence of alcohol. Notably, 28 offenders were found with blood alcohol concentrations (BAC) ranging between 200 mg/100 ml and 550 mg/100 ml. All apprehended individuals will be produced before the court for further legal proceedings.
“If anybody indulges in driving under the influence of alcohol and causes accidents resulting in fatalities, such persons will be arrested and prosecuted under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (culpable homicide not amounting to murder),” the police said.
The maximum punishment for this offense is 10 years of imprisonment and a fine. The Cyberabad police urged all citizens to abide by traffic regulations and ensure safety on the roads to prevent such incidents in the future.
