21-Year-Old Student Found Dead in Kacheguda Lodge
Hyderabad: A 21-year-old final year student died by suicide at a lodge on on Friday night, Kacheguda police said on Saturday. Police said the victim, Balaji, was working in the same lodge for five months. Police suspected that he was upset over personal reasons, and commenced investigations after booking a case. Balaji's body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary.
SUV Driven by Minor Crashes into Parked Vehicles at Banjara Hills
Hyderabad: A speeding SUV rammed into a parked car and autorickshaw after the driver, said to be a minor, lost control of the vehicle at about 5.30 am on Saturday. Witnesses claimed that the SUV was being driven by a minor, and was accompanied by his family members.
The accident occurred in front of a commercial complex at Banjara Hills Road No. 12.
“We were going on work when the speeding car driven by a 17-year-old boy overturned after hitting two parked vehicles and damaged the staircase and stairs of the commercial complex. The watchman managed to escape,” said Nandu Kumar.
“We saw a women and another youth in the car and alerted the police,” he said. The car was heading from KBR Park towards Banjara Hills. He said the driver who suffered bleeding injuries and the passengers were taken to a private hospital where they are undergoing treatment and are stated to be out of danger.
Jubilee Hills police have seized the car and registered a case against the car owner. They are inquiring about the driver’s age, an officer said.
A scribe and 12 armed men attack Jahangir Peer Dargah contractors
Hyderabad:Three sub-contractors of Jahangir Peer Dargah in Kothur were attacked by a news channel reporter and his henchmen after they refused to pay him a mamool of `15,000.
According to Mohammed Nawaz, sub-contractor of the dargah, one Mohammed Fiyaz Munnawar, a local channel reporter, along with 12 henchmen trespassed into the dargah premises around 9 pm on Friday and attacked over 15 contractors and subcontractors at the venue.
The complainant Nawaz, who suffered a head injury, said that Munnawar was demanding `15,000 mamool from the contractors for quite a while.
“We have paid him in excess of `one lakh after he threatened that he will not allow any channel to cover our contract tenders and news,” Nawaz said, adding that the reporter had been demanding `5 lakh for the last six months.
“Last night after we refused to give him any money, he came along with 12 people and attacked us with sticks when we were returning after namaz. We lodged a complaint with Shadnagar police and went to the nearby government hospital for treatment,” Nawaz said.
Following the complaint, police collected DVR installed in the dargah and are trying to identify the attackers through CCTV footage.
Police Officers Honored at Retirement Ceremony in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Joint commissioner of city police Dr Gajarao Bhupal felicitated honoured 9 police officers who retired from services on Saturday. They included Additional DCP K. Srinivasa Rao, seven sub-inspectors, 17 assistant sub-inspector, two head constables and two constables.
Dr Bhupal praised them for their service and assured them that they would get all the retirement benefits that are due to them. The department would stand with them, Dr Bhupal told the pesonne;.
NAB Raids Pubs, Detains Six for Narcotics Use
Hyderabad: The TG Anti-Narcotics Bureau (NAB) along with state excise cops reportedly raided 25 pubs in the twin cities and detained six persons, including two women, all of whom are said to be software employees, who tested positive for narcotics.
According to reliable sources, the team had watched the pubs for some time and identified pub customers suspected of using drugs.
Sources said 15 customers were subjected to the narcoanalyser out of whom six tested positive. Sources said five of them had consumed synthetic drugs while the sixth confessed to consuming ganja.
