Suryapet: Eight people from two families sustained injuries after three huts caught fire on Sunday in Budiga Jangala Colony of Dosapahad, Penphad mandal. The blaze was reportedly triggered by sparks from a live electric wire that touched the corner of one hut.

As the initial hut caught fire, an unused LPG cylinder stored inside it exploded, rapidly spreading the flames to two adjacent huts. The injured have been identified as Parvatham Saidamma, P. Mangamma, P. Venkanna, P. Bhiksham, P. Srinu, P. Satish, Kadamanchali Nagayya, and Kadamanchali Elamanchamma.

All three huts were reduced to ashes. Budiga Jangala Colony, located about 1 km from Dosapahad, comprises 300 houses, with around 100 families living in makeshift huts. Locals say the fire broke out in the hut of one Kadamanchi Muthaiah, where the live wire made contact. Muthaiah had kept the LPG cylinder unused, intending to carry it along for cooking while working in agricultural fields elsewhere. Fortunately, no one was inside the hut when the incident occurred.

Hearing the cylinder explode, nearby residents fled their huts in panic. Firefighters from Suryapet rushed to the scene and managed to bring the blaze under control.

The injured were transported to the Government General Hospital in Suryapet, where their condition is reported to be stable and out of danger.
