Karimnagar: Union minister of state for home affairs and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar has demanded the state government regularise artisan workers in the electricity department after accepting a representation from workers at his camp office on Monday.
Artisan workers alleged that for the past 18 years, around 20,000 have faced hardships due to meagre salaries. They recalled promises by the previous BRS government to regularise their jobs and merge them into the department, including merger orders.
Despite these assurances, many artisans remain jobless and unable to support their families. Forced to work overtime, they are experiencing mental depression and financial strain.
The workers criticised the government's implementation of the new Factory Act 1946 and Standing Service Rules, arguing that these have converted artisans into outsourcing employees, exploiting their labor with excessive overtime.
They urged Bandi to present their concerns to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and seek a compassionate resolution. He assured the workers of his commitment to address their issues promptly, warning that failure to act could lead him to initiate a movement alongside the artisans against the state government.
