Warangal: Illegal constructions in the buffer and Full Tank Level (FTL) zones of Bhadrakali Lake will be removed following a survey, and authorities will take strict action against land grabbers, announced revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. He shared this update with the media after offering prayers at Sri Bhadrakali Devi Temple in Hanamkonda on Sunday.

The minister reviewed the ongoing beautification of the Bhadrakali bund, flood prevention work at Bondi Wagu in the lake’s catchment area, and development of Bhadrakali Mada Veedhi. He directed officials to expedite the work for timely completion.

Ponguleti Srinivas noted that the Bhadrakali Temple, built approximately 600 years ago, holds significant historical importance, drawing devotees from across the state seeking blessings. The government is committed to various developmental projects for the temple, aiming to enhance facilities for devotees.

Under Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s leadership, the Congress government is dedicated to transforming Warangal — the state’s second-largest city — into the state’s second capital. As part of the city’s comprehensive development, the Bhadrakali Temple will be upgraded with a focus on meeting the needs of devotees.

The Bhadrakali Lake, which originally spanned 380 acres, has seen a reduction in area and storage capacity due to massive waste and silt accumulation. This has opened the door to encroachment by land mafias. The minister instructed officials to prepare proposals for the lake’s restoration and conduct a survey on surrounding illegal constructions.

He also mentioned that Warangal will have an airport as soon as the Central government approves the establishment of an airport at Mamnoor.

Additionally, proposals are underway to provide infrastructure suitable for the next 30 years, including the construction of outer and inner ring roads, underground drainage, and electrification.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to visit Warangal soon for the inauguration of Kaloji Kalakshetram, he added.
