Khammam: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced on Thursday that the Telangana Bhu Bharati (Record of Rights) Act will be enacted at the earliest to address existing lapses in land records.

During a ceremony at the B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat, principal secretary of revenue Naveen Mittal was handed the copy of the Act, which had been signed by Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, officially approving the legislation.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Ponguleti directed officials to finalise the implementation modalities for the Bhu Bharati Act, emphasising that the Act had received the Governor’s approval. He reiterated that the state government introduced the Act to provide efficient and swift land revenue services to the public. He thanked Governor Varma for sanctioning the Act and acknowledged the contributions of Cabinet members, officials, and intellectuals who provided suggestions during its formulation.
He further instructed the officials to expedite the implementation process, expressing confidence that the Bhu Bharati Act would offer a lasting solution to the state’s land-related issues. Highlighting the challenges faced by farmers under the previous Telangana Land Revenue Act-2020, enacted by the former BRS government, the minister criticised the lack of progress in finalising its modalities over the past three years. He accused the BRS administration of undermining the revenue system during its decade-long tenure, claiming that revenue services were monopolised by a few individuals for personal gain.
Since assuming power, the Congress government has undertaken measures to decentralise revenue services to the village level. Ponguleti announced plans to appoint revenue officers in each village to ensure effective land record administration at the grassroots level. He emphasised that the state government’s initiatives are aligned with the aspirations of the people, urging revenue officials to enhance the department’s strength and accessibility.
Concluding his remarks, minister Ponguleti reminded officials that the state government’s decisions are people-centric and called on them to implement policies effectively in the field to ensure the welfare of the populace.
