Hyderabad: A biker, Md Shoaib, was booked for allegedly abusing a traffic police officer during a vehicle check at Bowenpally on Saturday. Police had stopped Shoaib and asked for vehicle documents, police said.
“He started shouting at us when questioned about the focus lights fitted on the rear side of his bike. He then produced his driving licence but tried to attack me,” said traffic sub-inspector Vijaykanth. Police said Shoaib refused to produce the remaining documents and continued to misbehave with the SI and other traffic personnel at the spot.
As the situation began to escalate, Vijaykanth alerted the law and order police, who reached the location, detained Shoaib and took him in a patrol vehicle to the Bowenpally police station.
Shoaib, however, alleged that the SI held him by the collar and abused him. “The case is under investigation. We will record the SI’s statement and proceed as per law. Appropriate charges will be filed for misbehaving with an on-duty officer,” said Bowenpally station house officer B. Lakshmi Narayana Reddy.
