Hyderabad:The BJP on Thursday said that it was unfair on the part of HYDRAA “to focus on one community” and demanded that the state government to launch its demolition drive of illegal structures in the Old City and remove the encroachment in the Salkam Cheruvu by educational institutions owned by MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi.

Addressing a press conference, BJP Legislature Party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy charged that the state government was intentionally giving time to buildings of Owaisi in Salkam Cheruvu. He alleged that HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath had taken his name in media interviews and accused him of speaking on encroachments in the Old City for political gain. He demanded an unconditional apology from Ranganath; he would move a privilege motion in the Assembly if this was not done.

The BJP has raised the encroachment of Salkam Cheruvu by the Fatima Owaisi College, Gurram Cheruvu in Barkas, Pedda Cheruvu in Jalpally and Oora Cheruvu in Rajendranagar among many others as they have been the worst hit due to large-scale encroachments and causing floods in every monsoon season.

“Why is the government giving time to Owaisis and targeting the educational institutions of others? I demand the Chief Minister to provide a list of encroachments demolished in the old city,” said Maheshwar Reddy.
