Warangal: Fourteen years after a turning point in Manukota fuelled the Telangana movement, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao announced plans to replicate the protest to challenge Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Rama Rao accused the CM of forcibly acquiring lands from SC, ST, and BC communities, labelling him a "new dictator."

Accompanied by a convoy of over 100 vehicles, including former ministers, MLAs, and MLCs of the BRS, Rama Rao visited Mahbubabad district on Monday. There, he joined a Maha-dharna supporting the farmers of Lagacharla village, staging the protest in front of the tahsildar office.
Addressing the crowd, Rama Rao highlighted the nine-month-long struggle of Lagcharla farmers in the Kodangal constituency who are resisting the state government's attempts to seize their agricultural lands. He criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for making frequent trips to Delhi — over 28 visits in the past nine months — over addressing the farmers' grievances.
Rama Rao recounted an incident where state officials visited Lagcharla, only to face protests from frustrated farmers. "If the CM had taken the time to visit Lagcharla, the farmers would have shown him the strength of their resolve," he stated.
In response to the farmers' plight, the BRS plans to stage dharnas across all 119 Assembly constituencies statewide, not just in Manukota. When questioned by the DGP about the choice of Manukota for the protest, given that the original incident occurred in Lagcharla, Rao reiterated the party's commitment to supporting Kondangal farmers and vowed not to relent until the Congress government is ousted.
Rama Rao further accused Revanth Reddy of establishing a Pharma city in Lagcharla solely to benefit his son-in-law, alleging that the CM is systematically dispossessing poor farmers from marginalised communities. As the Congress government approaches its one-year mark, Rao questioned the fulfillment of the party's 420 promises and six guarantees made within the first 100 days of their tenure.
Addressing attempts by Revanth Reddy to deceive women in Maharashtra with false promises, Rao claimed that the Congress has faced backlash for such tactics. He also criticised Congress leaders for threatening violence against BRS members staging protests in Manukota, questioning why police action seems selective against BRS participants.
Highlighting legal actions taken by the Congress government against 30 farmer members, Rao mentioned that these people, including a pregnant woman named Jyothi, remained unafraid. Jyothi has escalated her complaints against Revanth Reddy to the NHRC, SC, ST, and women's commissions in Delhi.
Concluding his remarks, Rao affirmed that the BRS, standing for both Bharat Rashtra Samiti and Banajara Rashtra Samithi, remains steadfast in defending tribal communities and other marginalised groups facing oppression.
