Car driver gets seven years RI

A 34-year-old car driver was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) after he was found guilty of culpable homicide leading to death of his wife due to dowry harassment. The court of IXth additional judge of Rangareddy district, LB Nagar, pronounced the judgment after the completion of trial in the case, police said on Tuesday.

According to Abdullapurmet police, accused Lingaswamy, a resident of Gayatrinagar, had been arrested in 2018 in culpable homicide (crime number 270 of 2018) and the case was registered against the accused under Section 304 (a). The case was filed against Lingaswamy after his in-laws lodged a complaint with the Abdullapurmet police station.
The convict was forwarded to Cherlapally Central Prison by the Abdullapurment police. Additional public prosecutor Shobha Rani was representing the police in the case.
