Nizamabad: Anomalies were observed in the comprehensive household survey in municipal towns of Nizamabad district. While household listings were completed in villages, it was not finished in towns, especially in Nizamabad municipal corporation limits where the survey teams failed to identify the households for the caste census.

Lack of coordination between district officials and the survey teams adversely affected the caste census in the municipal towns. Following the campaign by the state government, people were eagerly waiting for the door-to-door survey. While the teams visited a few slum areas, they ignored residential colonies in the towns. In view of second Saturday and Sunday, government employees waited for the survey teams, but in vain.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, T. Premsagar Rao, a private sector employee of RTC Colony in Mubaraknagar, said their houses are not yet listed for the survey. The state government decided to conduct household listing from November 6 to 9, but no teams visited our colony, he said. Uncertainty prevailed over the household survey in urban areas, he opined.

Meanwhile, deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka told district administrations to complete the household survey by clearing doubts of people. He held a video conference with district collectors on Saturday. Nizamabad district collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu interacted with the survey officials and directed them to conduct the survey as per the guidelines of the state government.

Meanwhile, Laban Lambadi caste leaders in Kamareddy said that they would boycott the caste census taken up by the state government. Laban Lambadis should be included in Backward Classes (BC) list from the Madhura Lambadis, they said.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Tan Singh Naik and other leaders said that Laban Lambadi population is present in nine Assembly constituencies of Telangana. There is no provision for Laban Lambadis to submit their details in the caste census, he opined.
