Hyderabad: Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad warned BRS working president and MLA KT Rama Rao (KTR) and another party MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy to suspend them from the Assembly if they failed to sit in their chairs while protesting in the House demanding that the State government discuss the problems being faced by auto rickshaw drivers.

Chaotic scenes witnessed in the House within minutes after the commencement of the fourth day of the winter session of the Assembly on Wednesday.

Both the ruling and opposition party members traded charges against each other over State’s debts and borrowings apart from delay in giving overseas scholarships to the eligible candidates. When the BRS MLA KP Vivekananda alleged that the commission was being demanded to give scholarships, Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu intervened and took a serious note of the former’s remarks.

Sridhar Babu requested the Speaker to withdraw the remarks from the records leading to a war of words between the members of the ruling and opposition members. He said the BRS was making allegations without any evidence.

Even as chaos continued in the House, the BRS demanded that the State government discuss the problems being faced by the auto rickshaw drivers.

After the Speaker rejected their request, the BRS MLAs started raising slogans and protested near the well. In spite of urging the MLAs to sit in their respective chairs, the members did not relent forcing the Speaker to express anger on them.

He warned KTR and Kaushik Reddy that he would suspend them if they failed to sit in their chairs and advised them to behave as per the rules of the House. Sridhar Babu also expressed anger over the behavior of the BRS MLAs in the House.

He said the BRS MLAs were donning different roles after suffering drubbing in the Assembly elections in 2023.
