Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy commended the Christian community for their significant contributions to education and healthcare, noting that their services often surpass those provided by the state government.

He was addressing the official Christmas celebrations organised by the state government at LB Stadium here on Saturday.

Revanth Reddy referred to December as a "miracle month," pointing to its importance as the month of Jesus Christ's birth, the birth of Sonia Gandhi, and the initiation of the Telangana statehood process in 2009. He stressed upon the universal values of love and compassion taught by Christ.

"The festival that is most celebrated across the globe is Christmas," he said.

The Chief Minister lauded the Christian community's efforts in building a "healthy Telangana" and reiterated his government’s commitment to religious equality.

"Our government will not tolerate blasphemy against any religion. Everyone has the right to follow their faith, and this government ensures 100 per cent protection to all," he said.

Revanth Reddy announced several initiatives to benefit Dalit Christians, including extending the 200 units of free electricity scheme and allocating Indiramma houses post-Sankranti. He assured fair share to the community in all welfare schemes and urged TPCC president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud to recognise active Christian leaders within the party.

"This is a government that treats all religions equally. This government is yours," he declared.

The celebrations concluded with the Chief Minister cutting a ceremonial Christmas cake.

A highlight of the event was the Twin City Choir group, featuring 250 professional singers.

Distribution of prizes to winners of various sports competitions and book contests marked the culmination.

Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, MLAs, MLCs, pastors, bishops and other leaders were present at the grand celebration.
