Hyderabad:Sri Konda Laxman Telangana Horticultural University Vice-Chancellor Dr Danda Raji Reddy stressed the importance of production technology practices to be followed for profitable income in chrysanthemum.

He stressed the need to focus on post harvest management and value addition. The event was organised to mark Chrysanthemum Day.

About 110 varieties of chrysanthemum being grown at the station were displayed in the field. About 50 farmers including 10-15 women farmers attended the programme.

Dr Raji Reddy stressed that as most of the horticulture produce is perishable, there is a dire need to focus on post harvest management and value addition. There is a need to start small cold storage units to further explore marketing.”

The VC also suggested encouragement of an integrated farming system involving the components of agriculture and horticulture for more remunerative farming. He revealed that the university will be organizing short term certificate programmes on dry flower technology to create awareness on value addition and processing programmes for farmers and youth.
