Hyderabad: For the third consecutive day, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi and discussed the pending infrastructure projects related to Telangana.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy, Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and other senior leaders were also present. For the last two days, Revanth Reddy met Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Health Minister JP Nadda and other Ministers.

Briefing about the meeting with Gadkari, Venkatreddy informed media persons that Telangana got less funds in the last five years with respect to construction of highways in the State and several works were stopped as the previous BRS government turned a deaf ear to land acquisition and other issues.

The Regional Ring Road (RRR) that was mooted in 2016 was lying in a cold storage but the Congress government laid focus on it for the State’s benefit. During the meeting, a decision was taken to start land acquisition on a 50-50 sharing ratio.

“We have discussed construction of a six-lane highway connecting Hyderabad and Vijayawada for the benefit of two Telugu States. A request was also made to take up the construction work at a cost of over Rs.4,000 crore.

“Our focus is mainly on getting funds meant for Telangana,” he said, adding that necessary steps would be taken to expedite the works related to Uppal-Ghatkesar flyover.
