Hyderabad:The BRS on Saturday slammed the Congress government for “failures on all fronts” and demanded that it at least take care of children in Gurukul schools and ensure their safety, protection, and education.

Senior BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao, who visited the Gurukul school in Palmakole village in Shamshabad mandal along with former education minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, said that since the Congress came to power, around 500 Gurukul school students had been hospitalised and 38 students had died as a result of negligence at the schools.

They interacted with the students and enquired about the conditions at the school, and the problems they are facing. He said the government, instead of focusing on issues such as the plight of school children, was intent on picking on opposition leaders, mounting attacks on them with an aim to divert attention of the people from more serious issues.

Meanwhile, Harish Rao also flayed reported comments by irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy for saying that “former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao was a ‘dacoit who looted Telangana’.”
