Congress government will set up Education and Agriculture Commissions soon: CM Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said the reputation of the State government has gone up significantly as students from the government schools were now competing with those in the corporate institutions.
Addressing government school students at Ravindra Bharathi here, he said, “It is a matter of pride for that government school students are excelling and competing with private schools. This enhanced the reputation of our government and my heartiest congratulations to students.”
He said 90 percent of IAS and IPS officers studied in government schools and all prominent politicians including he had once studied in the government schools. There was a situation in the previous government where single teacher schools were closed due to lack of students. This situation is due to lack of focus on infrastructure.
But the State government has decided not to close single teacher schools. The government will go ahead to provide education to every village and every hamlet in the State, he said.
“We have started work with Rs.2,000 crore to rebuild all the government school buildings that are in a dilapidated state,” he explained. Stating that the government is organizing Professor Jayashankar's Badibata program to enroll students in schools, he said the government would hand over maintenance of government schools to women's associations. “We have also directed officials to release funds through green channel,” he said, adding that the government is considering implementation of a semi-residential system in government schools.
A study report showed that residential schooling weakens parent-child relationships. “Don't neglect schools in villages. The spending on education by the government is not an investment. Investing in education will benefit our society. We are going to establish education and agriculture commissions soon and provide flexibility to solve problems continuously. We are also ready to accept any suggestions in this regard,” he said.
Revanth Reddy said instructions were also issued to pay special attention to the admissions of students who got 10 out of 10. “We also wish students to achieve State ranks in intermediate and excel in future,” he added.
