Hyderabad: The Congress government's 26-day-long first anniversary celebrations will begin at LB Stadium on November 14, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. A public meeting will be held with 14,000 school children with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy as the chief guest. The state government has decided to hold "Praja Vijayotsavalu" (people's victory celebrations) on a grand scale between November 14 and December 9, marking the first anniversary.

Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari reviewed the arrangements with senior officials at the Secretariat on Monday for conducting celebrations at LB Stadium on the first day. On this occasion, there will be a Model Assembly and cultural programmes organised by the school students and an audio-visual presentation on the significant changes in the education department in the past year, the CS informed.

Santhi Kumari instructed officials to make arrangements for the students such as tents, continuous power supply, basic amenities and construction of a special stage for cultural programmes, among others. She reminded that the state government has undertaken many programmes for the students during this year, such as increasing the diet and cosmetic charges for students in government hostels, creating infrastructure in all the schools, establishing integrated residential schools and free electricity for government schools.
