Hyderabad: BJP SC Morcha secretary S. Kumar demanded the state government conduct a special session to discuss the issues of SC and ST community members. Kumar charged that the earlier BRS and present Congress governments had been reducing the funds for the welfare of the communities in the Budget.

Addressing a press conference at the state BJP office at Nampally, Kumar pointed out that the Congress leaders had promised to create three corporations for the Madiga, Mala and the remaining sub-castes of the SC community and allocate Rs 750 crore for each, in its pre-poll declaration.

“The Congress also promised to provide Rs 12 lakh crore financial assistance to members of Scheduled Castes under the Ambedkar Abhaya Hastham. The Congress also promised Rs 1,000 crore to SC Corporation, Rs 400 crore for MBCs and Rs 300 crore for tribals in their SC and ST Declaration at Chevella, but the government hardly released any funds,” he said.

He said the Rs 20 lakh assistance to students going abroad under the Amedkar Videsh Vidya Nidhi was not released. He criticised the government for the food-poisoning incidents in the social welfare hospitals.
