Congress Working Hard to Protect Farmers: Chief Whip
Karimnagar: The Congress government is giving importance to farmers' welfare and development, said Government Chief Whip Aadi Srinivas at the oath-taking ceremony of the Vemulawada Agricultural Market committee in Rajanna Sircilla district on Sunday.
Srinivas highlighted that the Congress government waived ₹21,000 crore in farm loans for 25 lakh farmers within its first year. Additionally, ₹55,000 crore has been allocated for various farmer-support initiatives. He criticised the previous BRS government for failing to waive loans and compensating farmers for losses caused by heavy rains, alleging misuse of funds under the Rythu Bandhu scheme.
The Congress-led government introduced crop insurance and announced the launch of the Rythu Bharosa scheme in January. Measures such as providing lorry agencies for paddy transportation and a ₹500 bonus per quintal of harvested paddy aim to ease farmers' challenges. Srinivas reiterated the government's commitment to development under the slogan, “Young India, Rising Telangana.”
