 Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Sunday welcomed the state government's move to demolish illegal encroachments on lake lands and said that it should also focus on properties of political leaders and businessmen, which were constructed on encroached land.

CPI state national secretary K. Narayana on Sunday alleged that HYDRAA was a great move to protect lakes. Poramboku lands, ponds, tanks, which were encroached by influential people by constructing function halls, colleges and other business establishments in the city.

"We fought many battles in the past but the government turned a deaf ear. HYDRAA is doing well and must intensify its activities. Tollywood actor Nagarjuna Akkineni earned a huge amount by making Big Boss and he is the owner of N Convention. Why did Nagarjuna encroach and construct N-Convention at FTL and buffer zones where the lake is located, Narayan asked.

Former minister and BRS leader Ch Malla Reddy is notorious for encroaching lands constructing buildings at the FTL, and buffer zones.

He also asked the government to consider regularising their notary lands of people belonging to the poor and middle classes.
