HYDERABAD: CPI MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao has demanded a judicial inquiry into the encounter in which seven Maoists, including a senior commander, were gunned down by the security forces recently in Mulugu district. He stated that the government must protect human rights.

Addressing the media at the Makhdoom Bhavan here on Tuesday, he said, “The BJP has not done anything except selling government assets for a song. And the BRS has no right to question the government on farm loan waiver. What did they do on their promises for 10 years? They waived loans of Rs 11,000 crore in their second tenure after realising that they were on the verge of losing the polls. The Congress, on the other hand, waived loans worth Rs 20,000 crore in its first term itself.”
The CPI leader opined that some farmers have not received loan waiver because of faults in the dharani portal introduced by the BRS. The Congress party should correct mistakes in the portal as soon as possible.
Elaborating on the workers' issues he said, “The wages of mid-day meal workers and salaries of daily wagers and other workers should be paid immediately. Wages of contract workers in Singareni and other establishments should also be paid. The government should speed up issuing ration cards and pension cards.”
