Crime News: Drug Peddler Held With 9kg of Ganja

 Hyderabad:  A food delivery executive attached to the aggregator app was arrested for drug peddling and nine kg of ganja was also recovered from his possession, said police on Wednesday. The joint team of the west zone task force along with Banjara Hills police nabbed seven consumers also. Accused Santosh Kumar Rout, 25, who stays in Banjara Hills and is a native of Odisha, came to Hyderabad in 2021. He was working as security guard and food delivery agent to sustain his livelihood. Due to fund crunch, Santosh came in contact with Govind, a hardcore drug peddler in Phulbani district of Odisha, Y.V. S. Sudheendra, the DCP, task force, said.

Recently, the accused purchased 9 kg of ganja from Govind brought the contraband goods from Odisha by a train.

The joint team of the police arrested Santosh and based on his confessional statement seven consumers were also nabbed. Around 9 kg of ganja, a bike and other incriminating things were recovered from his possession. The accused along with the seized property was handed over to the Banjara Hills police and on Wednesday, he was produced before a court for judicial remand.

Fight Breaks Out Between Youths Near Bar, Police Step In

A case was registered at the KPHB police station after a fight broke out between two groups of youths near a bar, causing inconvenience to locals.

Although the incident occurred two days back, it was reported on Wednesday.

According to KPHB inspector M. Venkateshwar Rao, two groups of youths indulged in a fight among themselves allegedly under the influence of

alcohol in front of a bar. When the fight became violent, locals informed the police, who reached the spot and took the youths into police custody.

Later, the youths were made to sign a letter of undertaking and cases were registered against both the groups.
