Hyderabad: Businessman Soodini Srujan Reddy filed a criminal defamation petition against BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao in the Nampally special court. The petitioner alleged that the former minister had made false accusations against him regarding the AMRUT 2.0 tender scheme, which had damaged his reputation.

Srujan Reddy stated that Shodha Constructions, which was started in 2011, was being managed by Kandala Deepthi Reddy, managing director. He denied having any shares or directorial role in the company.
Reddy accused Rama Rao of misleading the public by linking him to Shodha Constructions, which is part of a joint venture with AMR India and IHP that won the Package 1 contract in the AMRUT 2.0 project. He asserted that Shodha's share in the joint venture was 29per cent, contrary to the former minister’s claim of 80 per cent.
Srujan Reddy contended that the tendering process for AMRUT projects was conducted transparently through an online e-tender portal, and that Rama Rao's allegations were baseless. He said that Rama Rao, a former minister, had intentionally levelled these accusations to damage his reputation.
Despite sending legal notices, Srujan Reddy claimed,Rama Rao continued to level false allegations by holding a press meet in New Delhi on November 11.This prompted him to file a criminal complaint under charges of defamation, Srujan Reddy said.
