Defence panel visits DRDL Hyderabad, opens missile exhibition centre

Hyderabad: In a push towards showcasing India’s missile prowess, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on defence, led by Chairman Radha Mohan Singh, inaugurated the newly established Missile Exhibition Centre at the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad, on Saturday.

The Centre features an array of missile systems, from short- to long-range capabilities, and precision-guided technologies, underscoring India’s strides towards self-reliance in defence.

During the visit, the Committee reviewed key ongoing projects at DRDL.

Among the highlights were advancements in hypersonic weapons, missile defence systems, and future initiatives aimed at enhancing India’s strategic deterrence. Members showed particular interest in DRDL’s innovations, recognising the laboratory’s contributions to strengthening national security and integrating cutting-edge technologies into India’s defence infrastructure.

The chairman praised DRDL’s commitment to excellence and its role in driving indigenous capabilities. The visit also featured detailed discussions on upcoming and ongoing projects, with committee members stressing the importance of continued investment in research and development to maintain technological superiority. The engagement that robust R&D remains pivotal to India’s defence preparedness amid evolving global security challenges.
