 Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka instructed collectors of all districts to utilise the services of government teachers as enumerators for caste census from November 6 after the school hours in addition to the staff from other departments. He said teachers as enumerators should visit five to seven households daily after school hours, which would enhance community involvement in the caste census.

Each enumerator will be provided with an enumeration block map, survey schedule, and an enumerator’s manual to facilitate accuracy and quality data collection, he said.

Bhatti on Tuesday held a video conference with collectors of all districts from Khammam. Few ministers and senior officials from districts' headquarters participated in the meeting.

Bhatti asked enumerators to complete an initial household list before progressing to household schedules, allowing for structured data gathering. He said this survey seeks to gather detailed insights into the socio-economic and caste demographics of the state, fulfilling a “noble goal” in line with the Constitution’s commitment to equality.

He stressed the significance of this initiative, noting that comprehensive data on income, educational status, and political representation across different social groups is essential for crafting policies that promote social justice and equality. “The Constitution aims to create an equitable society, and this survey will bring us closer to that ideal,” he stated.

Bhatti reiterated that the survey's findings will serve as a foundation for future policy initiatives focused on social and economic equality across all communities. “By understanding the diverse realities of our people, we can create targeted programmes that bridge gaps and provide equal opportunities for all,” he stated.Depute teachers for caste census, Bhatti tells collectors
