Warangal: Farmers from Elkeshwaram, Rapallikota, and Suraram villages in Mahadevpur mandal expressed outrage on Wednesday over irrigation and revenue department officials conducting surveys for the Chinna Kaleshwaram project without prior notice. The surveys, which included marking red flags and trench excavations, were carried out in fields with standing crops, particularly cotton, which is yet to be harvested.

In the morning, farmers found red flags in their fields, initially fearing it was the work of Maoists. Upon learning it was done by government officials, they voiced their anger, demanding clarity and fair treatment.

Officials claimed they had previously surveyed around 60 acres in the mandal for the project and provided compensation. However, farmers disputed this, alleging they have not received any compensation. They also accused officials of violating the 2013 Land Acquisition Act by failing to ensure fair and transparent compensation.

The farmers have appealed to higher authorities to intervene and resolve the issue promptly. They warned that if their demands for just compensation and adherence to legal procedures are not met, they will escalate their protest.
