Four held in extortion case in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The city police on Sunday arrested four persons on charges of indulging in extortion.

Half a dozen mobile phones along with a two-wheeler and Rs.1 lakh in cash were seized from the possession of the arrested persons identified as Prem Ray, 34, of Gandhi Nagar, Nirajan Tiruw, 20, of Ranigunj, and Bikram Budha, 22, and Bishal Kumal, 22, both residents of Sindhi Colony in Secunderabad, according to Task Force Deputy Commissioner of Police, Y.V.S. Sudheendra.

He said the quartet belonging to Nepal was residing in Secunderabad and were working in Ranigunj. Due to insufficient money, they hatched a plan to snatch mobile phones and gain easy money by selling the handsets.

As per their plan on Saturday, at about 1 am, the four accused saw two persons standing at Rasoolpura crossroads and threatened them with dire consequences to give their mobiles. Out of fear, the two persons gave their mobile phones after which the accused fled the spot.

Based on information, the police nabbed them on Sunday and seized their mobile phones.
