Free Heart Surgeries to Begin at Sri Sathya Sai Hospital

Hyderabad:The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Centre for Child Heart Care and Research said it was all set to perform cardiac surgeries at its hospital in Kondpaka, Siddipet district.

Trust chairman Dr C. Sreenivas said that the parents with children requiring heart procedures have started registering, and the first surgeries are expected to take place on November 18 or 19.

Former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, member of the trust, speaking at the event on Thursday, said that the satisfaction he got from helping provide for life-saving surgeries to children surpassed the joy of hitting a double century.

The trust has established hospitals for the treatment of congenital heart disease in different states, including Haryana, Maharashtra, and now in Kondapak, Telangana. It has conducted over 30,000 paediatric heart surgeries and treated over 2.54 lakh children since its inception in 2012.
