Hyderabad:The Telangana High Court on Monday reprimanded the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) for giving only three days and that too during Sankranti vacation to a property owner near Meerpet pedda cheruvu in Almasguda village of Badangpet municipality for his explanation as regards encroachment of the lake.

The court directed the authorities to give appropriate time and during working days for the owner to clarify on the issue.

Justice K. Lakshman was dealing with a lunch motion petition filed by Jakkidi Anji Reddy, who rushed to the High Court on vacation challenging the HYDRAA notices dated January 10, asking him to explain and produce documents of his property in the survey number 237 of Almasguda village. They also sought his contention regarding the allegations that he had occupied FTL land of the water body and had illegally constructed buildings. HYDRAA officials gave him three days to come clear failing which they would initiate action against the property, the notice stated.

Considering the petitioner’s submission, the court stated that reasonable time should be given to show cause before initiating action against alleged illegal constructions. Further, the court mandated the authorities to give time until Friday to enable the Petitioners to furnish the required documents.
