Ganesh idols immersion to take place at 50 baby ponds, 20 lakes in city, suburbs: BGUS

Hyderabad: Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi (BGUS) on Monday said the immersion of Ganesh idols would be carried out at 50 baby ponds and 20 major lakes and tanks at Saroornagar, IDL Kukatpally, Safilguda and Sunnamcharuvu under GHMC limits in addition to Tank Bund.

Samithi president G Raghava Reddy on Monday said as many as 100 static and 150 mobile cranes would be provided at the baby ponds, and major lakes and tanks in GHMC limits for the immersion of Ganesh idols.

Around 30 static and 65 mobile cranes would be arranged at Tank Bund, he said recalling that the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy already asked all the State government departments to make arrangements for successful conduct of the celebrations during a meeting convened with him a few days ago.

The centralized procession of the idols would be organized on September 17, he said, stating that the Chief Minister assured a special budget for providing the required infrastructure for the celebrations on war footing. A dedicated control would be set up on Tank Bund for constantly monitoring the immersion of idols on September 17.

The BGUS will organize ‘bhajans’ and cultural events all through the festival period from September 7 to 17 at pandals across the city and nearby districts. At the 13 RTA offices in the city and its suburbs, the vehicles required for immersion will be provided with the specific request for approval from BGUS to pandal organizers on September 16 itself and at the government prescribed rates.

Reddy explained the Samithi has been celebrating ‘Samunhika Ganesh Utsav’ since1980 which has a unique identity internationally being a single organization conducting the celebrations with 1400 idols in the year 1980 first time to 1.40 lakh Ganesh pandals this year. The Ganesh festivities were started taking spirit to improve unity among citizens of Bhagyanagar and also safeguard the city from anti-national elements, he added.
