Hyderabad: The popular summer coaching camps conducted by the GHMC was a bigger hit this year with the enrolment of a record 52,158 trainees. This was way above last summer’s enrolment of 42,214 candidates.

The summer coaching camp, covering 44 disciplines, is open for children in the six to 16 age-group.

Incidentally, this year the camps, across 915 centres, have also been extended by 10 days. Instead of the traditional May 31, this year’s closing ceremony will be on June 10.

Archery, cricket, tennis, football, netball, basketball, roller-skating, throwball, cycling, kabaddi and malkhamb are the more popular disciplines in which qualified coaches offer training

This year the most number of children were enrolled in Khairatabad zone (17,753) followed by Charminar (10,795), Secunderabad (9,504), Kukatpally (5,369), Serilingampally (4,971) and LB Nagar (3,766).

“We have already completed the prize distribution for the winners of sports quiz. The inter-centre tournament winners will be awarded during the closing ceremonies in their respective corporation zones,” said a GHMC official.
