GHMC to seal Moti Market's chicken shops again
Hyderabad:The GHMC stated that it would once again seal unhygienic chicken shops at Esamia Bazaar’s Moti Market. A mob had reopened the shops after the GHMC had sealed them last week.
The GHMC said that during a surprise inspection on November 22, officials found shops run by Rasheed Hussain and Kalim Hussain having poor sanitary conditions, with rats roaming freely amid a pungent odour and lack of cleanliness. Officials later confiscated 30 kg of dressed chicken, 7 kg of liver, and observed over 1,600 live birds at the site.
“An MLC and some GHMC ward members came and threatened the GHMC officials and an unruly mob a created ruckus at the spot and grabbed the seized material. A police complaint has been lodged in this regard,” the note said.
GHMC stated that despite prior notices served in August and November under the GHMC Act, the shopkeepers had ignored warnings to vacate their premises. The GHMC sought Kachiguda police protection when its officials reach to vacate the shops.
