Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Suday asked why ways are being designed to prune the number of beneficiaries of various promises and sought to know if CM actually means 'cutting master'.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he said, "The CM had asked farmers to take Rs 2 lakh loans but is now finding ways to reduce them. From the initial Rs 39,000 crores, it has been reduced to Rs 31,000 crores now. Lakhs are being left out, saying they don't have pass books. Ration cards being made basis for schemes are leaving out lakhs of beneficiaries."

We will not sit quite and see how beneficiaries are being sought to be cut on the alibi that they are Income Tax payees or are employed in some small time government job. Lakhs have been denied cylinders at Rs 500 akin to how the 200 units power scheme beneficiaries have been cut. The Rs 7,500 promised under rythu bandhu, which was to be given at the start of the sowing season, has not happened yet, he said.

The government will have to answer if it fails to keep its promise on farm loan waiver, he added.
