Hyderabad:Marking the Teachers' Day celebrations, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Thursday outlined the state government’s comprehensive plans to uplift the education sector and address the longstanding issues of teachers. He praised the efforts of educators and reaffirmed the government's commitment to their welfare, emphasising their pivotal role in shaping a progressive Telangana.

He also reaffirmed the Congress government's commitment to consulting with teachers when making policy decisions, while speaking at the official Teachers’ Day celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi.

Reflecting on the difficulties faced by teachers over the past decade, Bhatti acknowledged the challenges posed by delayed promotions and transfers.

He noted that the Congress government had introduced transparent systems to address these concerns. “We facilitated the transfer of 45,000 teachers and granted promotions to 30,000 more,” he said.

Bhatti lauded the teaching community for their unwavering dedication, saying: “Teachers are the bedrock of society. The values they impart today will equip future generations to tackle the myriad challenges that lie ahead.”

The Deputy CM noted that after a long gap, the government had conducted the DSC examination for 11,062 teaching posts, with plans set for the release of one more notification for over 6,000 additional positions.

Bhatti said that ₹667 crore had been allocated to enhance facilities in government schools, with ₹136 crore specifically designated for sanitation improvements. He acknowledged the poor conditions many teachers faced.

Touching upon the government’s broader plans for skill development, Bhatti said the Skill University would address the gap between education and industry requirements.”

Further, the Deputy CM shared the government's focus on improving the infrastructure of universities, announcing ₹300 crore allocation for universities. Of this, ₹100 crore was directed towards Osmania University.

Bhatti praised Telangana’s teachers for their progressive thinking and contributions to the state's educational success and urged them to collaborate with the government in implementing its policies.
