Hyderabad:Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that the state government would install a statue of former chief minister Konijeti Rosaiah in here. The announcement was made during an event held at Hitex on Wednesday to commemorate the third death anniversary of Rosaiah.

Revanth Reddy said Rosaiah, who settled in Hyderabad and proudly identified as a Hyderabadi, served as an inspiration to society. He highlighted Rosaiah’s legacy as a symbol of leadership, fiscal discipline, and statesmanship.

"Rosaiah is a big inspiration for all of us in politics, whether it is contesting elections or delivering speeches in the Legislative Council and

Legislative Assembly," Revanth Reddy said. Rosaiah’s policies as finance minister in undivided AP enabled Telangana to begin its journey as a state with a surplus budget of ₹16,000 crore, he noted.

The Chief Minister shared personal anecdotes about Rosaiah’s guidance during their time in the Legislative Council. He recalled how Rosaiah, despite being from the ruling party, encouraged him (Revanth Reddy) as an Opposition member, particularly after a speech on irrigation. "He appreciated my efficient articulation and upheld the respect of the Council by fostering healthy debate," Revanth Reddy noted, contrasting it with the present-day atmosphere in the Legislature.

Rosaiah’s commitment to fostering constructive dialogue and bridging political divides was highlighted as a benchmark for leadership. "The

responsibility of an Opposition leader is to question the government, and the ruling party leader must solve issues. This ethos, exemplified by Rosaiah, is now missing in legislative proceedings," Revanth Reddy lamented.Rosaiah, who served in public life for over five decades, held various significant positions, including Governor of Tamil Nadu. His tenure as Governor was noted for being devoid of controversy—a rarity, as Revanth Reddy pointed out, in the political history of Tamil Nadu.

"Congress Chief Ministers in undivided Andhra Pradesh relied on Rosaiah for his unwavering support and strategic acumen. He was their indispensable right-hand man, always in the number two position," Revanth Reddy remarked.

He praised Rosaiah’s humility, noting that he never aspired to be Chief Minister but took on the role at the behest of Sonia Gandhi during

challenging times. Addressing the Arya Vysya community, Revanth Reddy acknowledged their contributions to Telangana’s economic growth, calling them “brand ambassadors” of the state. He assured timely permissions for business initiatives and promised greater political representation for the community.
