Hyderabad: The Telangana Group-1 Officers Association has demanded the creation of the Telangana Administrative Service (TAS) to address the ongoing shortage of IAS officers and streamline administration. Association president Mamindla Chandrasekhar Goud cited the example of the Kerala Administrative Service (KAS).

In a meeting held in Hyderabad on Monday, Goud expressed gratitude to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for appointing Group-1 officers as managing directors of state corporations.

"In 2015, the previous BRS government formed a committee of six IAS officers to explore the establishment of the Telangana Administrative Service, but it is yet to submit its final report," Goud said, urging the Congress government to take swift action. He also highlighted the importance of appointing talented Group-1 officers as MDs of corporations and experienced officers as additional collectors in local bodies to address the immediate administrative gap.

General Secretary Hanuman Naik echoed Goud’s concerns, calling on the government to expedite the process. The association intends to raise the issue directly with the Chief Minister, Chinna Reddy Committee, and the Chief Secretary soon.
