Gurka Jaipal Yadav Reveals Phone-Tapping Details in SIT Probe

Hyderabad: In a new twist to the phone-tapping case of the BRS government tenure, former BRS legislator Gurka Jaipal Yadav of Kalwakurthy, reportedly disclosed to the police that, ahead of the Assembly elections last year, a senior party leader had asked him to send the phone numbers of two prominent Congress leaders to then ASP M. Tirupatanna and have their phones tapped illegally.

He is the second BRS politician to be interrogated by the police, after Chirumurthy Lingaiah, former MLA of Nakrekal on November 14. The special investigation team (SIT) probing the case has reportedly served notices to two more BRS former MLAs, Paila Shekar Reddy of Bhongir and Gadari Kishore Kumar of Tungathurthy, for questioning.

Yadav was questioned for two hours by the SIT investigation officer (IO) in the Jubilee Hills ACP office here on Saturday. Yadav said that as instructed, he had used his mobile phone to contact Tiruputanna.

Police sources refused to disclose the names of the Congress leaders whose phones were tapped but confirmed that their phones were tapped in the special operations team war room of the then State Intelligence Bureau with sophisticated devices that were procured from foreign countries illegally.

SIT officials asked Yadav to surrender the mobile phone that he had used when he was an MLA within a week, sources said.

Earlier, BRS former MLA Chirumurthy Lingaiah of Nakrekal reportedly told the police that he had given the names two BRS leaders, Madan Reddy and Rajkumar, to Tirupatanna following the police official’s request. He also reportedly surrendered his phone to the SIT.
