Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the State government, the Director General of Police (DGP), the Hyderabad city police commissioner, and Borabanda police officials, seeking their responses regarding alleged police misconduct against an advocate within the Borabanda police station limits.

The High Court initiated a suo motu petition in response to an incident involving the alleged abuse of power by police officers who reportedly took advocate P. Santosh from his home in the early hours of August 16, 2024. The court also directed the additional advocate general to examine the possibility of enacting an Advocates Protection Act to address growing concerns about the safety and protection of legal professionals in the state.
