Heavy Inflow of Water Recorded in Major Irrigation Projects

Karimnagar:Heavy inflow of water was recorded in several minor and major irrigation projects in united Karimnagar and Warangal districts on Wednesday.

Around 10,000 cusecs of water from upstream was recorded in the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) reservoir. At present, the water level in LMD was 16.44 tmcs against its full capacity of 24.07 tmcs.

The inflow into Mid Manair Dam (MMD) reservoir was around 17,661 cusecs of water. The officials discharged around 6,550 cusecs of water to the downstream. The water storage level at present in MMD was recorded at 21.53 tmcs against its full capacity of 27.55 tmcs of water.

Executive engineer of LMD P. Nagabushana Rao said revenue and police departments have alerted people living in Manair river catchment areas not to venture near the river since there was a chance of release of water from LMD.

In three major barrages of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KILS) project which include Lakshmi (Medigadda) barrage at Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, heavy inflow of water of about 8,19,500 cusecs was recorded. The officials lifted 85 gates to release water to the downstream. The storage capacity of the barrage is 16.17 tmcs of water. At present the barrage is in free flow condition.

In Saraswathi (Annaram) barrage, the inflow of water is about 4.29,412 cusecs of water. The officials lifted 66 gates to release water to the downstream. The storage capacity of the barrage is 10.87 tmcs of water. At present, the barrage is in free flow condition.

About 1,25,600 cusecs of water was recorded at Parvathi barrage and by lifting 74 gates, the officials released water to the downstream. The storage capacity of the barrage is 8.83 tmcs of water. At present the barrage is in free flow condition.
