HMRL Celebrates Seven ‘Glorious Years’ as Catalyst for Hyd’s Economic Growth

Hyderabad:Hyderabad Metro Rail celebrated its seventh anniversary, claiming a ridership of 63.4 crore commuters, daily average footfall of 4.75 lakh passengers with 2024 clocking a peak of 5.63 lakh passengers.

This is the world’s largest metro rail project implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode. All its 57 stations have achieved the coveted IGBC platinum certification.

Sai Nikhil, a digital marketing executive, who was felicitated as a ‘loyal rider’, said, “Metro Rail has been so helpful to me, I was able to beat the traffic of Hyderabad and meet my clients on time.”

Auditor Sai Pratiba said, “Each day I take at least two trips. Metro Rail is both convenient and safe, including during rains or severe sun.”

N.V.S. Reddy, managing director of HMRL, who is on this project since inception, said, “Hyderabad Metro Rail is not just a mode of transportation; it's a catalyst for economic growth, social development, and environmental sustainability. It has significantly reduced traffic congestion and improved air quality."

K.V.B. Reddy, managing director and CEO of L&TMRH, recalled, “We faced numerous challenges during the project's execution…. This project has not only showcased our engineering prowess but has also demonstrated our commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure that benefits the community."
