More Restaurants in Hyderabad found flouting food safety rules
Hyderabad: Continuing on the heels of recent restaurant raids, the Telangana Food Task Force team on Wednesday conducted inspection on three popular eateries in Hyderabad's Charminar area, including Hotel Shadab Restaurant, Nimrah Cafe, and Arabiana Restaurant, where they uncovered several violations.
Through consecutive updates shared on the X account of the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana, officials on Friday listed the various violations they found during the raids in each restaurant. While all three restaurants were found guilty of charges like not displaying a true copy of FSSAI License at any prominent location of the premises, absence of medical fitness certificates for food handlers, and kitchen or baking and aeration areas being exposed to the external environment without any proper insect-proof screen, and doors not being closely fitted to avoid entry of pests or flies, the more specific violations are as follows:
𝗡𝗶𝗺𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘆, 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿
* A few of the food handlers were found without wearing haircaps, gloves or aprons.
* Food articles like fresh cream and pastry were stored inside the refrigerator without any labels.
* Pest control records for the premises not found with the FBO.
* The baking equipment and its surrounding areas including the floor were found to be tidy and hygienic.
𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁, 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿
* Food handlers were found without wearing any haircaps, gloves or aprons.
* Dustbins found open without lids.
* Stagnant water, untidy and greasy exhaust fans, and flaking plaster are seen near the cooking area.
* The refrigerator was found in very unhygienic condition and food articles were kept inside without proper covering or labelling.
* Pest control records for the premises not found with the FBO.
𝗛𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗯, 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿
* Improperly labelled Eagle Brand Cutting Coconuts (Packed), Dried Rose Petal (Packed), Cardamom, and Jeera were found and seized. (No packed date, batch no. details)
* Some of the semi-prepared and raw food articles stored inside the refrigerator were found without proper labelling or covering.
* Dustbins found open without lids.
* Flaking plaster from the ceiling, dust and cobwebs were observed over the gas pipeline on the ground floor in the kitchen area.
* FBO found to be carrying out Pest Control Measures every fortnight and records are available.
