Hyderabad: Electrician held for robbery

HYDERABAD: The Gachibowli police on Friday apprehended Syed Zubair Ali a 20-year-old electrician, for a robbery at about 2 am on November 5. Police are on the look-out for Ali’s associate, who is absconding.

Ali and his associate waylaid Senagala Prashanth and Jahnavi, who were travelling from Gachibowli to Lingampally, threatened them with a knife and snatched a silver chain, silver bracelet, earrings, and two mobile phones, estimated to be worth Rs 50,000. The victims reported the incident to the Gachibowli police who booked a case and launched an investigation.

On November 15, during a routine vehicle check at Masjid Banda road, the police stopped a suspect, later identified as Ali, who was attempting to avoid the police. Upon inspection of his two-wheeler, police found mobile phones that matched the stolen gadgets. On interrogation, he confessed to committing the robbery along with his accomplice. Police seized the loot from Ali and said he was found to be involved in six cases in several Hyderabad and Cyberabad police stations.
